- Your DVD player can play Japanese DVD?
-
DVD regions are codes for specifications that require a DVD player to be "hard-coded" to accept the disc's particular region. For example Best Selection' s DVD which is a region 2 disc cannot play in a region 1 DVD player in USA. Their are eight regions in total, six of which are designated for world regions.
Region 1 - United States and Canada
Region 2 - Japan, Europe, Middle East, and South Africa
Region 3 - Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Borneo, and Indonesia
Region ALL(or zero) - play on all DVD players
In addition to region codes, there are also differences in discs for NTSC and PAL TV systems.
If you want to play DVDs all over the world, you may buy "region free DVD player" or "hack" the DVD farmware.
